I tried it for depression some years ago. Considering I also have chronic back problems, I figured the pain attenuation couldn't hurt. I think I took it for maybe all of a week. Made me bat sh*t crazy. okay, that might not be descriptive - it made my mind race quite a bit, like being hopped up on caffiene and sugar, but without the nice energy boost. And keep in mind that another term for mind racing is anxiety. Whew - didn't like it much at all. On the other hand, my mind was racing so much that my mind wasn't on my back, ha ha. However, a while after that I started doing my academic research on one of the fatty acids in Fish oil - it does seem to help with the depression - granted, it doesn't make all my days sunny, but it does get rid of the black beast, which makes it easier to deal with gray days. Here are some links so that you can do some research of you own, if you are so inclined.

I tried DLPA for depression several years ago. I used it for about a month and did not find it helped my depression at all. At the time, I had borderline hypertension. I don't know if this is an issue for you, but I had to stop the DLPA because it made my blood pressure went up. You might want to try the fish oils that the first answerer mentioned. If interested, you can talk to your doctor about Lovaxa, which is prescription omega 3 oils to guarantee you get the full potency. If you eat meat/ fish, you would probably do better by eating salmon and other fish high in omega 3. Some people say 5-HTP is good for depression. I have not tried it since it is fairly expensive. Wish you the best.
