Question: Left index finger tip numb? (Posted by: Uchiha Sakura on 2008-09-25 14:15:19) Yesterday, the tip of my left index finger became numb and there isn't any logical reason for it. I do play the violin though. It hasn't gotten any better or worse. My finger looks normal. My hands and feet do become extremely cold sometimes, but the color is always the same. Any thoughts on this? |

Posted by: distantdistopia on 2008-09-25, 14:21:48 Sounds like it is just a result of playing your violin. I don't think it is anything to worry about but you should keep an eye on it. If it happens continuously you should get it checked out. |

Posted by: Lewys on 2008-09-25, 14:21:44 Your hands, feet and ears all have points in them that relate to every part and organ in your body so maybe you have something wrong just rub it and work on it see if the left toe that matches the figure is numb or hurts. here is a link that may help. it may be your sinuses acting up. or you can google reflexology |

Posted by: Itisi on 2008-09-25, 14:23:02 I have sort of the same condition and I play the violin also. My hands get extremely cold and so do my feet. Somtimes my fingers go completely white and I can't feel them. It's called Renaud's disease. It comes in various levels. My condition is not too serious. I'm sure if you research it you will be able to find out what your "level of condition "* is. I hope this helps! It certainly can get annoying when my fingers go numb while playing! *For lack of a better phrase |

Posted by: busybee6363 on 2008-09-25, 14:23:57 If you pluck your violin with that finger, it may have cut off the blood supply or trapped/ broken a nerve or something? So some sort of nervous injury? I think this website should help you: wrongdiagnosis.com/ sym/ finger_numbness.htm Hope i've helped! x |

Posted by: Almond on 2008-09-25, 14:37:09 Your index finger are innervated by the median nerve. It is possible that your current symptoms are related to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. As you probably know, this clinical situation results from a compression of the median nerve around the wrist area, where the nerve passes underneath a fibrous tissue band. This "tunnel " space is decrease during flexion of the wrist, such as during the relaxation of sleep, therefore triggering the symptoms of numbness and tingling. If your symptoms persist, then a medical evaluation might be helpful. I hope this information is helpful. Best of luck. |
