Posted by: Alice B on 2008-11-08, 22:33:21 Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc. Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level. But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort " - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc. The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that "learned behavior " in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them! Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to.... Extracted from Source. |

Posted by: psychic_jod on 2008-11-09, 02:37:08 I dont think taking the benzodiazapines are the answer, i have been taking them now for 5 years, they are addictive and have different affects on everyone. i would be looking at maybe trying to speak with a dr first and talk about your concerns with them. the benzo does work for myself but like i said it is addictive. i have many times tryed to come off this medication and with out success it is a terrible thing to come of with the withdrawals. for my partner the benzo is no good as it has a affect on him to be delusional. i would try the st johns wart wich you can get at a chemist adn see how you feel, also meditation helps and walking out the anxiety attack helps. keep telling yourself in your mind that it will pass soon and control your breathing and that works also |
