What is wrong with me??? (tiredness, aches and pains)?

Question: What is wrong with me??? (tiredness, aches and pains)?

(Posted by: bee on 2008-10-06 07:16:27)

For a while now I have felt like there is something wrong but I can't quite put my finger on it, and I don't want to go to the Doctor with such vague symptoms. I feel very, very tired all the time. I find it impossible to get up in the morning, however much sleep i get. I've tried getting less, more, having the window open/ closed... always the same. I wake up feeling like I haven't slept at all and feel tired all day. I could easily sleep during the day for several more hours. The time I feel most awake is in the evening but even then my energy levels are pretty low. My boyfriend thinks I'm being lazy but i really have no energy at all. I also have frequent blocked ears and nose and a sore throat. I often have pains at the top of my nose which may be sinus? I have been to the doctor, where I've had anaemia, diabetes and thyroid checks but they were all negative. Anaemia seemed likely since I'm vegetarian and do have heavy periods but apparently I'm not anaemic. Other things which may or may not be related are: I get frequent thrush infections and cystitis, I am always cold, I sometimes get aches in my legs and twitch them a lot in my sleep. apparently i also grind my teeth when i sleep. sorry to be so long winded but i'm fed up of feeling crappy and despertaely want to get to the bottom of this!! Thanks! thanks to people who give useful answers... i do quite a bit of exercise so no further abuse about that please! UPDATE: i do work, i used to work in a job where i got up at 6 and walked for 45min to get there, now i get up later and have to walk less- thought it would make a difference in how tired i am but i see pretty much no difference. is it possible to have anemia that is not picked up in a blood test? i've had blood tests but they've come out negative for anaemia. UPDATE 2: my blood pressure is usually low. i'm interested in the food allergy thing, i found out about candida allergy recently because i have recurrent yeast infections. any good resources people know of?

There are several things that can cause the problems you are having. Being a vegetarian, I'm sorry, is a fad of our modern times. This lifestyle can be done, but NOT without a cost to your health. The primary problem is that it is very difficult to balance the nutrients and some of the substitutes you use to replace meat products simply do NOT supply you with all you need. Primitive man ate mostly meat, but the meat was from wild animals eating highly mineralized grasses. Many cultures in the world ate very little fruits and vegetables and were very healthy. A very good reference for that information is to buy the book, "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration " by Dr. Weston A. Price. (the 9th edition is available now). This is a detailed study of his 5 year travels around the world to primitive cultures where he examined diets, studied blood samples, took pictures, and compared their health to "modern man. " Today the meat in America, especially, is very bad for you and I can totally understand why you want to be a vegetarian. Cows are fed grain and expected to be healthy, but the results are cows are sickly. The parts of the cow that are made into AMR beef byproducts that are fed to other animals like chickens, pigs, etc. are NOT recommended by the World Health Organization and the U.S. conveniently ignores the WHO recommendations, unlike the rest of the world that has much healthier animals. Acquiring beef from GRASS FED COWS in a local setting where you know how the beef is raised and what they are fed is the only way to know you are getting quality that is good for you. B-12 is one of the primary deficiencies in Vegetarian diets. The supplements you take to compensate for these deficiencies are not good and most of the time lack the ability to fix this B-12 deficiency. It is why most vegetarians have a placid look to them. SOY products are typically used by vegetarians and this is because the Soy industry is spending millions on advertising their products to give misinformation to the public that is ignorant of the truth. It has almost become dogma to say soy is good for you. In fact, the opposite is the truth. Fermented soy is O.K. to eat and has some good qualities about it, like the Japanese people eat. The unfermented soy that is sold all over America is damaging people's health. A recent study confirms that soy reduces the sperm count in males by over 50%. Soy inhibits the absorption of iron by over 50%. The goitrogens in soy slow the thyroid down and this AFFECTS THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM. The endocrine is a system of complex relationships and when you affect one organ, it affects them ALL. Soy inhibits protein absorption. Soy Milk is very bad for you and is being promoted as something good. It contains lots of sugar to mask the flavor, has loads of titanium dioxide in it to color it white (white paint), and is NOT fermented. A very good book to read to learn the goods and bad about soy can be found in, "The Whole Soy Story. " The frequently blocked ears and nose and a sore throat is indication that you have low grade infections going on and that is a very strong indication that you are very mineral deficient. If you are eating LOW FAT, LOW SALT, high carbohydrate content foods like fruits and vegetables and NOT complete proteins like those found in whole eggs, etc., you need to make some changes soon. Your adrenal glands are most likely very exhausted from making cortisol due to the high carb, low fat, low salt diet (I'm assuming). I strongly suggest you contact a Certified Nutritional Therapist to help get you on the right tract by testing you and determining exactly what nutrients you are deficient and to help you with diet recommendations. The thrush infections, always cold ALL are pointing to the endocrine problems that include your thyroid, adrenal glands, and liver. I also highly suspect you are not digesting your food well, especially proteins because most likely you are not getting a good "complete " protein mix. The sinus problem is directly related to your liver issues. This is where vitamin B-12 is processed and stored. It can only be acquired in nature from animal meat. I suggest you get the book called, "Nourishing Traditions " and read it cover to cover. And no, sorry to say to the other person answering, this is not a new sickness going around. In fact, in 1905 the CDC reported that 5% of Amerians were chronically ill. Today, the same CDC reported in 2005 that over 53% of ALL Americans are now chronically ill. The food industry is not your friend. And the so called "food experts " that are promoting the "food pyramid " that was bought and paid for by the food industry that has more revenue than ALL the American Corporations combined including oil companies. Those marketing geniuses have managed to distort and confuse a public that is not educated on what is good and bad food to the point of insanity. Look around and ask yourself, why is 26% of ALL Americans pre-diabetic or diabetic, 80% overweight and 30% OBESE? Do you actually believe it's genetic as the medical people would have you believe? Do you really believe Fat Food Restaurants are really serving you good quality food? Do you think convenience foods are good for you? Look at what truly does work, not what some study tells you that it works. Read the book by Dr. Weston A. Price and learn what he found that made people truly healthy and then decide. good luck to you

Maybe you are pregnant?

Sounds like you need some more protein in your diet. Being a vegetarian I'm sure you don't get a lot of protein. Try it at least.

Posted by: shortbreadtin on 2008-10-06, 07:21:14

Make sure you're getting enough iron and protein in your diet, you could be malnourished if you have heavy periods and don't ensure you keep your iron levels up

Sorry, but you DO need to go to the doctor. You are asking for medical help from non medical strangers which is daft and potentially dangerous Why not print off your question so you can refer to it when you visit the doctor. Another option is to check out NHS Direct I wish you well

Depression can make you feel this way... have you considered this?

Posted by: craziaskanbe2 on 2008-10-06, 07:21:44

May be some vitamins would help try making yourself get out and excersise and maybe eat healthier

You may be depressed and/ or stressed out. Being tired and run down like that is often caused by depression. It could also explain the other health issues as it wears down your immune system. If you don't want to get on medication then try exercising! It will be really hard to get moving when you already feel so tired, but it is a natural mood booster and energizer. Give it a try!

I have been experiencing most of your symptoms.i think its a new thing.its like chronic fatigue syndrome, for which we need to take more immunity boosting naturally sweet food, vegetables like brocolli, and sweetlime juice .is your sugar or b.p.low? mine is low.i too feel damn tired,an homemaker with a lot of work and a five year old active son.trying out all natural forms.try a cup of warm milk with honey at bed times.i think this has to go on its own,god helping.i have bouts of thrat infections.sorethroats, and even low grade fever and indigestion

If Lyme common in the area you live in? Sounds a lot like my boyfriend, who was recently diagnosed with it...we live in NY where it is fairly common. If it is a possibility (had a tick on you recently?) you should go to the doctor, they'll do blood tests to see. You need to be treated for Lyme's, it won't just go away, and if left untreated, it can cause major, and permanent problems, the longer you let it go untreated. Sorry you are feeling so badly, get it checked out. some reading: en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ Lyme_disease mayoclinic.com/ health/ lyme-disease/ DS00116 aldf.com/

Your system sounds run down. if you have heavy periods your body is in overdrive trying to re-coup the loss so although you don't feel like your doing anything your body is in overdrive. It may be that you have an allergy to some of the foods you are eating, read up online about wheat allergy's etc, that could be one of several things affecting you. Also have you thought you may be suffering migraines? You don't have to have a sore head to have a migraine......It took my doctor 5 years to diagnose me with digestive migraines! and i have sinus trouble, dizziness, tiredness......loss of concentration etc......all down to my diet and allergy's. Im no doctor so just giving you some tips to try and find the causes so that once you go to the doctors you have something to add and talk to them about.

Get thyself fit and stop feeling sorry for yourself. You are completely drained of energy because you are unfit. Start by eating healthily, getting you weight correct for you build and height and by exercising get you energy back. It will take about 6-8 weeks before you start feeling better so get cracking now. Go walking, jogging, cycling or swimming at least 3 times a week for at least 20mins a day. No excuses just do it.

Of course it may be many things but one thing that is very very common in women is being anemic. (now i see you mentioned it) It can be as simple as your doctor giving you iron pills and stool softeners (it irritates some women and makes them constipated). The other option that was given to me was taking Flinstone pills that have iron in them. I personally stay away from them bc of too many bad stories but you shouldnt have a problem. My sister is anemic and Im borderline anemic. My bones were always aching and apparently since i was "borderline " anemic, my egghhh (i cant remeber the exact words) body was trying to replace my iron by taking by bone marrow (or something) therefore leaving my bones practically brittle. Anyways, i feel much better now .I think that you should also try exercising a bit, it just made me feel better to be tired for a real reason rather than feeling so lazy. It gave me a nice boost of energy.

Is there a new sickness going around? Cuz I have most of these problems!

Hard work is often a cure you can have too much sleep, do you work

There is nothing like vague symptoms. Some serious diseases manifest through what you refer to as "vague symptoms ".You can't "put your finger on it " because you are not trained to do so. There is no way anybody can tell you off head what is wrong with you unless you go to the hospital, see a doctor who will check you physically and probably have you undergo a series of laboratory and other tests. Your health is your life; don't joke with it.
